Flyer for Ed Banger Records Event
5.5" x 8.5"
This was for Beyond Marketing's Scion/Vice Party in Austin, TX. The flyer was inspired by the homemade house party invitations that I used to get. The invited were almost always hand drawn and the name of the party would sometimes have a crazy type treatment.

peninsula youth theatre poster
All Shook Up Poster for Peninsula Youth Theatre
11" x 17"
I worked with Peninsula Theatre Group and created a poster for their production of "All Shook Up", a musical that featured the music of Elvis Presley. I used several devices to communicate the Elvis Presley theme of the show: a blue dominant color palette, a jukebox, and an Elvis shaped sign outlined in neon.

liminal box
Liminal Box
6.5" x 4.5" x 3.5"
(Poplar Wood, Nails, Glue, Invisible Thread, Glass, and Reconstructed Book)
I built this box to illustrate the concept of transformation into liminal space. The three panels of handmade paper are made from the shredded "Transformation" chapter of the book, Liberating Rites by Tom F. Driver. They represent the Three Jewels of Buddhism: the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. The viewer is meant to look through the glass to view the liminal space that surrounds the paper panels.

blunted funkn flyer
Flyer for Blunted Funk Records (front and back)
3" x 5"
I used expressive typography to convey the "wild style" of hip-hop music, dance, and art of the 1980's. An obscure photograph of my computer display serves as the background. This piece represents a digital twist on the "wild style" movement.

sonar accordion festival guide
sonar festival guide pages
Sónar Festival Guide
3" x 4"
I created a mock pocket guide for a multimedia festival. I wanted to represent the theme of computer-aided art by using InDesign master pages to help create a mechanical rhythm. I also incorporated a scan of some gouache brush strokes to represent a contrasting human element.

annihilator magazine spread
annihilator magazine spreads
Annihilator Magazine (various spreads)
5.5" x 4.25"
I utilized a grid-based layout to organize the various elements in the skateboard magazine. I used low-resolution images to convey a rough and unfinished style. Extreme cropping and bleeding of the images were also used to convey speed and motion. The magazine was made small enough to carry in a back pocket.

union pacific logo
union pacific stationery
union pacific letterhead
Union Pacific
I created an updated logo and corporate stationery. The main theme of the new logo is the golden spike that was used to join the Union Pacific Railroad and the Central Pacific Railroad to create the first transcontinental railway. The golden spike symbolizes the railroad that brought technology, people, information, and goods to people all over the United States.
